When does the ski season start?
The skiing season on Mount Vitosha begins in mid-December when the mountain is usually heavily covered with a white blanket. Ski resorts are open until mid-April, when the snow on the mountain starts to melt. The snow cover is at least 150 days a year, and the average annual temperature is 3.3 degrees Celsius. The working hours of the ski resort are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Of course, the beginning and end of the season, as well as the operating hours, may vary due to weather conditions and national holidays.
Vitosha Mountain Ski Center
Aleko Ski Center is the oldest in Bulgaria and the most visited ski center on Vitosha Mountain. In addition to skiing, snowboarding is also available. The trails are north-oriented. Ski and snowboard facilities include one cable car, three chairlifts, six stationary ski lifts, and several portable ski lifts. The Simenovo-Aleko gondola leads to the ski field, and two cable cars are below Crni Vrh.

- Laleto 1 – difficult trail, 1,600m long and 250m difference in altitude
- Laleto 2 - enters the category of very difficult trails, with a height difference of 160m and a length of 1,400m
- Laleto 3 – the most demanding trail that falls into the category of very difficult, with a length of 3,100m and a 450m height difference
- Stenata - this trail is classified as a difficult trail, with a total length of 900m and a height difference of 250m
- Černi Vrh – category of medium difficulty, which is 870m long with a 140m height difference
- Green – the most accessible trail recommended for beginners. The length of this track is 3,800m with a 400m height difference
- Diagonal 1 – a challenging trail with a length of 1,200m and a 160m height difference
- Diagonal 2 – like the Diagonal 1 trail, challenging, similar in length (1,100m), but much steeper (725m height difference)
- Gray trail is fairly easy and recommended for people without much experience. Length 600m and height difference 400m
- Ski route Laleto - with a height difference of 725m and a length of 700m, is classified as a very difficult and demanding trail
- Mecha poljana - translated by Medveđa poljana. Of course, there are no bears, but only a path of medium difficulty and length of 400m with a height difference of 140m
- Lale učebna - 400m long and with a difference in height of 140m, enters the category of medium difficulty
Ski pass price
The price of the ski pass varies depending on the age of the skier and the duration. Prices are affordable compared to similar ski resorts in other European countries. So, for example, a one-day ski pass for an adult costs around 25eur, while children and teenagers should spend 18-20eur.
Night skiing
For those who want to extend their skiing enjoyment, Vitosha offers a fantastic night skiing experience. Night skiing is something that this ski center is widely known for.
